Who We Are

Upstate BirthNetwork is a chapter of BirthNetwork National.  We are a non-profit organization   of volunteer birth professionals and advocates.  We seek to serve Upstate, SC by:

  • Providing free one-on-one consultations to expectant women/families.
  • Maintaining a resource list of providers who support the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative
  • Host quarterly Meetings to discuss important topics and positive birth stories. Meetings will be held in Greenville. Keep an eye out for updates on our events pate. Also like us on FaceBook for the most up to date information!
  • Conduct advocacy events to promote Mother-Friendly care for women in the Upstate.  

Chapter Leaders

Jennifer Conway, Jen is a birth photographer/film maker serving Greenville and Spartanburg. She is a doula at Wellspring Birth and is publisher of a natural childbirth magazine for the Upstate coming out this Fall. She is also a Mom to 4 and has experienced childbirth in birth centers, at home and in hospital. You can contact her at 864-678-0353.

Leadership Board

Jenn Anderson:  Jenn leads ICAN of the Upstate, a chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network.  ICAN offers support and resources for women who have experienced cesarean birth or are pursuing a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).  Email:  jenn@birthography.com

Barb Davenport, CNM: Barb is a nurse-midwife  caring for women, and attending births in hospitals and hospital-based birth centers for 30 years and leadership in BirthNetwork chapters for 11.  Her long term goal of attending births in a free standing birth center will soon be a reality with Greenville Midwifery Care.  864-455-1600.

Roxanne Ervin: Roxanne is a DONA trained doula, with a passion for VBAC and hypnobaby births. She believes in supporting women in their birth, no matter what their choices are, and helping to ensure that they make informed decisions. Email: mydoularox@gmail.com.

Moira Hanna: Moira is a certified health coach who specializes in prenatal and family wellness/nutrition.  She also works with couples going through fertility treatments with the goal of using nutrition to optimize the chance for conception.  She is the local Attachment Parenting group leader and a Psychology instructor for a local college.  Email: info@behealthysc.com

Brooke Lindler, RN:  Brooke is a nurse with Greenville Hospital System and she has a passion for patient advocacy.  She also recently experienced her own positive hospital birth with the arrival of baby James.  brooke@backroads.net

Keith Stafford, MD:  Dr. Stafford is a doctor who serves expectant families at Greer Memorial.  As a family physician, he is able to see women during their pregnancies and continue care with their babies.  He blogs at Healing Medicine.
